Naturalization

Naturalization and Citizenship

The United States of America or the land of opportunity has always been a center of attention. It is no wonder that most refugees and immigrants from all over the world seek to have a safe and secure life in the United States.

Transitioning to a new culture, tradition, and environment requires effective integration and participation in community engagement. Keeping that in mind, the Louisiana Organization of Refugees and Immigrants (LORI) has brought free citizenship classes in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

These classes are designed to provide important information about the rights and responsibilities of US citizenship and to help individuals develop the language skills and knowledge necessary to pass the naturalization test.

Recognizing rights and responsibilities

Citizenship classes enlighten immigrants about their rights and responsibilities as U.S. Citizens. This covers the right to vote, the right to work and serve on a jury.

Civics Education:

Immigrants acquire knowledge about American history, political system, and civic values of the United States. This knowledge is crucial for passing the civics portion of the naturalization exam.

Preparing for the Naturalization Test

The naturalization process includes a written exam on U.S. history, government, and civics. Citizenship classes offer guidance and practice tests to help applicants prepare for this exam, increasing their chances of success.

Opportunity to Resources

Citizenship classes may include information on various services and resources accessible to immigrants, such as social services, legal aid, and community initiatives, in addition to the naturalization process.

Citizenship classes at LORI are designed according to the needs of the incoming immigrants.

The Citizenship classes are scheduled to commence on January 16th, 2024.
