— T nonimmigrant status is a temporary immigration benefit that enables certain victims of a severe form of trafficking in persons) to remain in the United States for an initial period of up to 4 years if they have complied with any reasonable request for assistance from law enforcement in the detection, investigation, or prosecution of human trafficking or qualify for an exemption or exception. T nonimmigrant status is also available to certain qualifying family members of trafficking victims. T nonimmigrants are eligible for employment authorization and certain federal and state benefits and services. The Secretary of Homeland Security may designate a foreign country for TPS due to conditions that prevent nationals from safely returning. TPS may be granted to those already in the U.S. from designated countries. Eligible individuals without nationality who last resided in a TPS country may also qualify.

Here are current TPS and DED designations with key deadlines:

• Afghanistan:

  Apply by May 20, 2025. Valid through July 14, 2025.

• Burma (Myanmar):

  Apply by Nov 25, 2025.

• Cameroon:

  Apply by June 7, 2025.

• El Salvador:

  Re-registration only. Valid through Sept 9, 2026.

• Ethiopia:

  Apply by Dec 12, 2025.

• Haiti:

  Apply by Aug 3, 2025.

• Honduras:

  Re-register by July 5, 2025.

• Lebanon:

  TPS: Apply by May 27, 2026. DED valid through Jan 25, 2026.

• Nepal:

  Re-register by June 24, 2025.

• Nicaragua:

  Re-register by July 5, 2025.

• Somalia:

  Apply by Mar 17, 2026.

• South Sudan:

  Valid through Nov 3, 2025.

• Sudan:

  Apply by Apr 19, 2025. Valid through Oct 19, 2026.

• Syria:

  Apply by Sept 30, 2025.

• Ukraine:

  Apply by Apr 19, 2025. Valid through Oct 19, 2026.

• Venezuela:

  2023: valid through Oct 2, 2026; 2021: through Sept 10, 2025.

• Yemen:

  Apply by Mar 3, 2026.

— In order to be eligible for a special Immigrant Juvenile Status a person must be under the age of 21, be within the United States, have a valid juvenile court order which would reflect the relationship that the juvenile has or does not have with their parents.
